Hibachi is one of my favorite foods, not only because the flavors are so yummy, but the experience makes it even better! Even though there were no theatrics when I made this steak fried rice, it tasted straight from the hibachi griddle.
There is a common misconception that carbs are detrimental to anyone looking to lose weight or "get healthy", but that falsehood could not be any more wrong. Carbohydrates are one of the three essential macronutrients and integral for a healthy, balanced diet. Carbs aid in muscle recovery and repair, provide your body with the basic building blocks for energy to power you through your day, and obviously, they taste amazing.
The greatest thing you can do on a fitness journey is let go of these food labels: good vs. bad, healthy vs. unhealthy, clean vs. dirty. Food is food, food is fuel, and that includes carbohydrates. Not eating carbs in hopes of losing weight and still having energy and, let's be honest, a personality is like not filling up your tank and expecting you car to take you long distances: it's just not happening.
I digress on the carb discourse, but eating meals with well-rounded ingredients like this during your calorie deficit, reverse diet, or even your bulk if you're looking to put on more muscle is the key to success. In this particular meal, I used both regular jasmine rice AND cauliflower rice. I use cauliflower rice not as a rice substitute, but as a means to incorporate more vegetables in my diet and hit my micronutrient goals, and to bump up the satiety factor by adding more volume. When you stop seeing cauliflower rice as a substitute for rice and start viewing it as a way to eat more for less calories, you'll appreciate it more.

INGREDIENTS:
- 150 grams jasmine rice, weighed cooked (preferably day old)
- 5 ounces grass fed sirloin steak
- 1 whole egg, scrambled
- 85 grams mixed veggie blend
- 170 grams cauliflower rice
- 200 grams fresh chopped zucchini
DIRECTIONS:
In a bowl, microwave your mixed veggies and cauliflower rice according to package instructions. Microwave day-old rice to get chill out for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Set aside and let cool.
Roughly chop 5 ounces of grass-fed sirloin steak and set aside.
In a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat, sauté your zucchini with seasonings of choice and reduce to low heat when they're fork tender.
In a separate pan, scramble your egg and set aside.
Increase the heat on your sauce pan with zucchini and let cook alone for another 2-3 minutes. Then, add your rice, cauliflower rice and veggie blend, and your scrambled egg. Add additional seasonings and soy sauce for flavor.
Reduce heat and add steak and mix thoroughly. Serve and enjoy.
