ABOUT ME
WHO IS JOOLZ FOODZ?

Hi everyone! If you’re new here, welcome! My name is Julia Pellicane, and I am the face behind Food Finds by Joolz Foodz. The name “Joolz Foodz” comes from my food instagram page, @joolz.foodz, that I started in June of 2020. I had started this page during the height of the pandemic to hold me accountable with healthy eating, and the page quickly transformed into posting some of the yummiest eats from local restaurants and cafes in an effort to help small businesses. And while I enjoyed eating out and supporting local businesses, my account once again became centered around healthy and quick recipes that enabled me to lose over 70+ pounds! As I continue to navigate my wellness and fitness journey and maintain such a drastic weight loss, both my Instagram account and this blog have stayed centered around overall health, wellness, and holistic nutrition.
Personally, it is so important that I cook and find recipes that are tasty and fit my caloric needs while not restricting myself. In the past, restrictive behaviors and unhealthy patterns led to unsuccessful weight loss, not just for me, but for so many other impressionable young women. It is important to me to be transparent about these issues because it silently affects so many, especially young girls my age, and the weight loss process does not have to be restrictive, malnourishing, and unenjoyable. In order to make progress in the gym, you NEED to eat and fuel your body! This time around, I am doing things healthily and as fulfilling as possible, focusing on whole foods, simple ingredients, and creating fun recipes.
Lately, I have been trying to prioritize eating very limited processed foods and following a more animal-based, carnivore diet. After battling acne, inflammation and bloating, and lots of food noise, I have decided I no longer want to feel like a prisoner in my own body. Recipes might look slightly different now. Higher calorie, higher in fat, and a lot less ingredients, but, I hope that every single recipe can be of use to someone. These are the foods that make me feel my best, and hopefully they can do the same for you! After all, you feel your best when you consume single-ingredient and simple foods given to us by God.
When I was a college student, it was all the more difficult to stay focused on my goals and cook often because of my schedule, but this blog serves not only as an extension of my food Instagram, but as a means for me to take accountability and stay happily on track. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, and taking the time to eat well and prepare these amazing recipes guarantees results. For my college students out there, it is ABSOLUTELY possible to eat well and reach your goals, even within the typical constraints.
You don't have to eat only boiled poultry and raw vegetables to see progress in your training. You can make fun, healthy, high-protein meals that prioritize hitting your macronutrients while still tasting AMAZING! Nutrition is often the hardest part of a fitness journey, but with the recipes I am posting, hopefully it will become the easiest part!
Whether you find yourself embarking on a similar journey, or you simply need meal inspiration, I am so glad you’re here. Join me on this adventure to look good, feel good, and eat even better.
